Good Friday KiteFest Celebration At Horseshoe

April 1, 2015

Bermuda’s Good Friday KiteFest Celebration is taking place this Friday [April 3] at Horseshoe Bay Beach, which will see a mix of local entertainment, kite and fishcake making contests, games and prizes.

Chewstick said, “Having stewarded the event for the past four years The Chewstick Foundation is grateful to title sponsors Logic Communications and the Bermuda Tourism Authority as they further their mission to bring people together in the spirit of goodwill and cultural enrichment.

“They are proud to host the Kite making competition with categories ranging from Best Boxy [Fennel Sticks], Biggest Kite, Smallest Kite, Best Traditional Kite, Ugliest Kite and more.

“Also for the second year, there’ll be the chance for fishcake chefs to be recognized for their mastery in the fishcake competition. Entry for both the competitions is free, participants need only show up on the sand with their kite or bring one fishcake to be judged between noon and 2pm on the day.

“For those that don’t cook or build kites there are still a variety of ways to get involved including an Easter Egg hunt, wacky games like Egg & Spoon and Wheelbarrow relay races, three-legged races all for the chance to win prizes, souvenirs and festive party favours.

“The vibrant energy is maintained throughout the day with a wide array of Bermudian talent on stage from soul singers to rappers, and DJs playing in between the live acts. Some performers that will grace the stage are Olivia Hamilton, Ramon Clarke, Hana Bushara, Haz, Sheri Scott, Robert Symons and more.

“The Chewstick Foundation would also like to thank BELCO, the Kitson Group of Companies and Fairmont Southampton for their support and invite all of Bermuda to decorate the sky, play in the sand, enjoy a beautiful, fun-filled day of activities, entertainment, and creative expression in celebration of Bermuda’s unique and vibrant Easter traditions.
