April 21, 2015

A 48-year-old French national was taken to hospital by ambulance following the arrival of the French vessel SV SOCHRIS 9 on Saturday [Apr 18].

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “On Saturday 18th April, 1.35pm, the arrival of a 40 foot French SV SOCHRIS 9 required arrangements for landing a crewperson with need for ambulance transfer to King Edward’s Memorial Hospital.

“This 48 year-old French National was safely landed to an ambulance at Ordnance Island, St. George’s, and taken to the hospital for treatment. Satellite Telephone communications were poor and assistance with translating the French language was kindly supported by a third party resident in Bermuda.

“The eventual arrival of the yacht was coordinated for clearing into Bermuda at H.M. Customs in St. George’s and the vessel arrived safely at 7.20pm.”
