Mark Anderson’s recent cross-island walk to raise money for his goddaughter Kamala Smith, who suffers from a rare form of cancer, has raised more than $3,300 to assist in her expenses.

The walk saw Mr. Anderson start from Dockyard, heading down Middle Road to the Paget stop lights, along South Shore Road, over Collectors Hill to Middle Road, down Flatts Hill on to North Shore Road through to St. George’s, and past the RAA Club to finish at Fort St. Catherine.

Mr. Anderson, a bus driver and well-known entertainer, was joined on the walk by Paget Humphreys-Dackman.

Speaking before the walk, Mr. Anderson said, “It’s a very stressful time for my goddaughter, who is suffering from Leiomyosarcoma, a cancer of the smooth muscle and connective tissue, diagnosed in September of 2011.”

“The reason why I’m walking through each of the parishes is because I’m sure Kamala has touched and will continue to touch people’s lives. I want everyone concerned to see me walking through their parish.”

Mr Anderson, Mrs Smith and Ms Humphreys-Dackman after the walk:

“Kamala is due to leave on Tuesday April 28th for additional treatment in Boston,” Mr Anderson said yesterday.

“My goal is still to reach $60,000. I would like to thank everyone for their kind support, and the Bank of Butterfield account 20 006 060 650 994 200 is still open for anyone who would like to donate $10 to help Kamala.”
