BCB Announce Start Of 2015 Cricket Season

The Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] announced that subsequent to a number of meetings with clubs, captains and coaches and extensive review by the Cricket Committee the following senior domestic format decisions apply to the 2015 season:

  • The 2015 T20 will comprise of a separate competitions for the Premier and First Division
  • The Belco Cup will revert to its traditional format of 4 teams playing over a weekend
  • A T20 innings will be scheduled to span 85 minutes, instead of 80 minutes
  • The points structure for the T20 and 50 overs format will remain the same as in 2014.
  • Relegation/Promotion – there will be one team going up from the 1st Division and two teams going down. There will be a play off game between 2nd place in the 1st Division and 5th place in the Premier Division.

The detailed regulations for each competition will be available on the BCB website later this week.

Nyon Steede, Chairman of Cricket Development, noted, “We have had many healthy debates with our stakeholders on the respective merits of potential format changes, points structure and other cricket playing matters.

“At the Cricket Coaching Committee meeting with the local senior coaches in April there was unanimous agreement on the importance of the bonus points structure for the continued development of domestic senior cricket.

“This was endorsed by the Cricket Committee and ratified by the Executive. I look forward to an exciting and competitive season played within the spirit of the our great sport.”
