Photos: Philippine Embassy Team Visit Bermuda
It was a busy time for the Filipino Association as they were visited by the Philippine Embassy team from Washington DC for this year’s consular and labour outreach.
“A total of 242 Philippine passports renewals, 12 Reports of Births, 8 Reports of Marriage, and 3 Oaths of Dual Citizenship, and authentication of documents were held by the Consular Team headed by Consul Arlene Magno at the Hamilton Princess hotel from May 23rd – 24th,” a spokesperson said.
“Over 300 Absentee Voters for next year’s Philippine national elections were also registered by the team. The Philippines Overseas Workers Welfare Administration also renewed memberships for Filipino contract workers on the island.
“On Friday, May 22nd, the Labour team led by Labour Attache Angel Borja Jr. paid a courtesy call to Premier Michael Dunkley at the Cabinet Office. Also in attendance was Cabinet Secretary Dr. Derrick Binns.

“The Premier welcomed the group composed of Mr. Borja, Labor Officer Oliver Flores, and Rowena Comber and Sonia Loudermilk of the Filipino Association. Premier Dunkley acknowledged the contribution Filipino workers make to the Bermudian economy and said that he appreciates all segments of the community working together for the betterment of the island.”
“Mr. Borja and the team also visited the Department of Workforce Development and met with Mr. George Outerbridge, Ms. Oonagh Vaucrosson, and Mr. Lauren Smith to address any employment concerns of Filipino workers on the island.
“Then the team held a work-site visit of a few business establishments employing Filipino workers on the island. On Saturday evening, May 23rd, an open forum was held with the Filipino community at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel and was attended by Ms. Vaucrosson and Mr. Smith from the Department of Workforce Development.
“Overall, the Consul and Labour Attache deemed the Bermuda outreach a success as they aim to strengthen relations between the Bermuda and Philippine government.”
