Poll Results

The company said, “By a similar two-to-one margin recorded in 2014, the PLP were considered the party who was more in touch with the concerns of Bermudians [51.4% versus 48.4% in 2014]. Just over one-quarter of voters [26.3%] felt that the OBA was in touch with voter concerns [versus 25.4% in 2014].”

“Half of Whites and Others [50%] felt that the OBA was more in touch with Bermudians [compared to 56.2% in 2014]. In addition, just over one-quarter of Whites and Others [27%] felt that neither party was in touch with voter concerns, compared to 12.5% of Blacks who felt that way.

Differences By Gender, Age, Income

There were no statistically significant differences for gender, age or income.

Poll Notes

Profiles of Bermuda said, “Category totals may not add to 100% due to rounding. The 2015 survey was conducted among 407 registered voters between 15APR15 and 10MAY15 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.8%. Some 75% of respondents were obtained by landlines, 11% by cell phones and 14% via the internet. Data for all demographics were weighted to reflect the 2010 Census.”

the plp makes more noise, the oba is quiet, the plp therefore gets into people’s heads, the oba does not. lesson? the oba needs to up its PR.

    • Vote For Me OW says:

Does anyone on this island even answer these polls anymore! I’ve stopped because there were just too many of them, and I don’t want to give politicians the tools they need to tell me what they think I want to hear. I’d rather they tell me what they feel and let me decide if I agree.

When I entertained them I would never tell the truth anyway and I know two others the same.

      • bermy onion says:

The Polls before the UK election were so wrong & it just proves that people only tell you what you the pollster wants to hear. I know I’m guilty of that, as I prefer to tell politicians/candidates face-to-face of what I think & not some pollster firm!!!

      • Rhonnie aka Blue Familiar says:

I stopped years ago with the polls as there were far too many, at one point we were getting calls three times a week, and too many questions/statements posed were too broad, meaning they could mean more than one thing and as such could be taken to lean in whatever direction those commissioning the poll wanted.

    • filobedo21 says:

The OBA need to get onto people doorsteps and their living rooms, that is what they need to do. Let them think they can win elections via FB and Twitter!

      • Mockingjay says:

The U.B.P/oba are finished they have lost the confidence of the masses and they are too embarrassed to go on door steps they know better.

  3. Terry says:

    More polls.
    Garbage.

    Go figure.

    • Time Shall Tell says:

And a good portion of that 2/3rd population voted in the OBA so what’s your point & why are you trying to play the race card? You trying to use the PLP trump card before they get to?

    • Strike fund says:

A recent poll suggested that 74% of people don’t trust polls, 52% do trust polls and 32% were undecided. Although the numbers greatly exceeded 100% the margin for error was 4.8%.

Name five things the PLP would do better as Government, GO

    • Dockyard Lackey says:

You are being too optimistic. I mean five. Really?

    • Come Correct says:

      Don’t worry I got this.

      1. Complain
      2. Spend taxpayers money
      3. Express disdain for people who don’t look like them (especially foreigners)
      4. Diss people that don’t agree with them (especially the UK)
      5. Fight (I thing Burgess could handle the oba single handedly)
      6. Make money magically dissappear but never re-appear.

If I keep going do I get extra credit? What do I win?

    • Common Sense Talking says:

      1. Listen to the majority
      2. Not pimp their own for political gain
      3. Have more mercy on the lower class
      4. Not be so openly arrogant and dismissive
      5. Work on projects that mean more than just good PR

  5. Sony says:

  6. stunned... says:

oba please produce your own polls asking relevant questions

    • Regina says:

They don’t need to – they already won the most important poll. Now shut up and let them fix the mountain of steaming garbage they inherited.

      • stunned... says:

agreed – “they already won the most important poll.”

my point being the plp are having polls to support a particular view and in balance, the obs should respond in kind.

and no, i won’t shut up.

  7. hmmm says:

This is from the same pool of respondents that answered the other 2 polls recently announced.. same data collection dates and number of responders.

In this poll 51.4% think the PLP is more in touch with the people, but in the other poll only 29.1% thought the PLP would be better at managing the economy.

So 43.3% of these PLP supporters do not think the PLP would be better at managing the economy…. Says it all.

    (51.4 – 29.1 = 22.3, 22.3/51.4 = 43.3 )

    • Toodle-oo says:

This surely is proof that a polling institution conducts their own internal research after many polls and when seeking a certain result will go to selected phone numbers to get a result they want for their own reasons .

There’s just no other logical reason that any majority of voters could really , really believe that the plp is more in touch with the public .

    • aceboy says:

      Exactly.

I am beginning to get suspicious about these polls.

      Who commissioned them?

They never seek my opinion or anyone I know.

    • Jus' Askin' says:

Stop letting Bob do Your numbers, they’re looking Fuzzy m8 ;-)
Let’s have a Snap Election and see what the People really think :-D
The Road to Election 2017 will be Very Entertaining!!!

      • hmmm says:

The polls did the numbers I just put the two together.

this particular poll has had 3 articles from it already…just tie them up and it is plain to see. to be honest I think this is much more insightful.

      • hmmm says:

I do not think the next election will be entertaining in the slightest. I think it will be ugly and Bermudians will suffer as a people. I find this very sad

…One party is desperate to divide a country, the other is desperate to unite a country. the latter of those two is the OBA.

        • Jus' Askin' says:

Are You saying we need an United Bermuda Party and OBA is it? :-D

OBA tries to work in the best interest of the ‘country’
PLP tried to work in the best interest of the ‘people’

Imagine a “Better Bermuda, for All Bermudians” where a party works in the Best Interest of ‘The People’ and ‘The Country’. ;-)

          • hmmm says:

PLP did not work for the best interests of the people.

OBA are working for the best interests of the people.

            • hmmm says:

Grand Atlantic, COH, school overspends original contractor replaced, TCD testing privatized,ST Georges golf course, Increased medical insurance costs, paying for beyonce, yeah we still had to buy tickets too, Port Royal (have you played there, did you see the golf ???), SDO Tuckers, Whites island, Dame Browne Evans building Trust, ……..the lists go on and on and on. the Causeway, the 11m to let maintenance off the hook…the bond….the lists go on and on and on.

They paid away all our childrens futures. OBA is fighting to get those futures back.

I guess they could throw in a Beyoncé just to keep us dopey, didn’t take much…the PLP figured out how to fool the masses for a while at least.

              • Make my day says:

Sorry but you missed the biggie…..the PLP cared SO MUCH about people that they saddled us and the next couple of generations with $2 BILLION IN DEBT

                • Jus' Askin' says:

You do know 1/3 of that came from the OBA?

                  • Barracuda says:

stop your lying , rewriting history again .
you are not fooling anyone .

                    • Jus' Askin' says:

                      Debt $2.15 bn = PLP $1.4 bn + OBA $.75 bn

PLP’s average of $100 mn a year while in power.
OBA’s averge of $375 mn a year while in power. If they do 5 years it will be $150 mn a year average. That’s worst than the PLP’s $100 mn.

Disclaimer – Numbers May be Fuzzied as I used the BRM (Bob Richards Method) :-D

  8. Lawry says:

A shame the pollsters did not ask about competency.

  9. allegedlyfuzzyinbda says:

Of course the non black are supporters of OBA…the only money being made on the island is in their pockets and the concerns of hard working (or at this point many nonworking Bermudians due to the economy created by OBA) are being ignored! There is a serious lack of govt concern in this current party!!

  10. Tom Cooke says:

Who on earth is paying good money for such rubbish and obviously bias polls….

    • Kangoocar says:

@Tom, I am willing to bet that it is the same person that financed that wasted UK trip by the 4 stooges???

    • Blankman says:

Who is paying for this? Two guesses. And the first one doesn’t count.

  11. Nonsense! How can a poll distinguish between concerns of Bermudians and voter concerns when they are one and the same.

  12. Zevon says:

“Which party do believe is in touch with the concerns….”.

Anyone else notice the missing word in the question?

Looks like a pretty half-baked excuse for a poll. Even the question is nonsensical.

  13. longbay trading says:

    You are kidding. Really?
Who did more damage to the people of Bermuda than the PLP?
And some dubious pollster feels the need to actually ASK this question?
I cannot breath from the sheer hyprocospy.

  14. Raymond Ray says:

What’s that old saying, “show me your company and I’ll tell you who you really are”? We that can count don’t need any asinine polls that have been taken by this bias group of people that are attempting to regain leadership any / which way possible. Sad yes but true :-(

    • Jus' Askin' says:

OBA is handing the election to the PLP :-D
Jus’ like PLP handed it to them ;-)

  15. Scotty says:

Statistics and darn statistics. So who says you didn’t interview 3% more PLP voters than OBA voters? I pay absolutely no attentions to polls in Bermuda. There so many variables that come into play. No one asked me. So this does not represent my opinion. What was the make up of the population interviewed? I hope the taxpayers are not footing this bill.

  16. jt says:

I’m more concerned about which party is more in touch with our finances. The rest doesn’t mean much until that’s dealt with.

  17. Trulytruly says:

The plp more in touch with Bermudians and the OBA handle to economy better, accordingl to this poll. Who would you pick?

    • hmmm says:

PLP, fish fry, pretend to listen, showmanship , divisiveness and BS…spend like there is no tomorrow and boom and guaranteed bust mentality.

Or the OBA who are people working hard to ensure that ALL our children and beyond do not live in poverty.

  18. Christopher Notorius says:

Rather than separating these polls by race, I think they should have a section for ‘Grassroots Bermudians’ which is what you really mean isn’t it?

  19. cole says:

CR had an obvious agenda that makes these polls meaningless.

  20. Lizbeth says:

Thank God I am not influenced by the bloggers on this page. 95% reactors.

  21. JUNK YARD DOG says:

Smoke and mirrors are what is found in the magician’s bag of tricks.

Brain washing and mud slinging are ploys of the politician used to promote dissatisfaction, to distract peoples attention and consequently manipulate the vote.

Smoke and Mirrors . ” I am not as good as I thought I could be , but I could promise to be better than I want to be .”

Do not gorge me with what political propaganda you have up your sleeve, tell me what you have done for the greater good and the prosperity of this country.

When the smoke clears and you look at the mirror all you see the reflection of discontent. Failure to pick up the pieces invites disaster.

    Mend your boats.

  22. Oh,I see now says:

Rather than separating these polls by race, I think they should have a section for ‘Grassroots Bermudians’ which is what you really mean isn’t it?

    IMPOSSIBLE

  23. Christopher Notorius says:

It is just sickening how every one of these polls is designed to demonstrate differences between the races. We should be coming together instead. These pollsters are obsessed with colour. Pathetic. If you call me with one of your race baiting polls I will tell you where to go. But then of course you’ll call me a racist. A holes all of you.

  24. Alvin Williams says:

All those disappointed OBA supporters over the results of the latest profile of Bermuda poll reminds me of the red wasps or doctor bees I used to upset by throwing water on their nest and than at a safe distance I used to watch them buzzing around in anger-ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz’

    • Christopher Notorius says:

      Boring as usual

    • hmmm says:

It proves the PLP voters don’t trust the PLP to run the country as demonstrated.

  25. impressive. says:

Like a bunch of children in here.. So a poll comes out and the results differ from you viewpoints, so you discredit the poll and the pollster, but when the results support your view point, OBA’ers want to lean on it like a crutch.. (and some have to nerve to call the poll biased)..some things change, some things remain the same..

    • Inabermystylie says:

You’re wrong about that mate…it’s not the results of the poll that differ from my or others view point…it’s the fact that 407 people polled do not represent a fair sample of the Bermudian voter. I don’t care if it is the OBA or PLP…whatever the result…it’s just not accurate based on such a small sample size. The only poll that matters will be at the next election. And if the PLP win because a majority of Bermudians believe that they have what it takes to turn our country around, then so be it…but at the end of it all, if we are still no better off and perhaps even worse off than today, and Bermudians still continue to vote for that party to mismanage the country further, we are all doomed…except for the PLP elite But I suppose the PLP faithful will vote party before country and this will always be the case and Bermuda will always be divided…

  26. Just a matter of time says:

These recent poll results have definitely brought out more of the ugly to the surface. Nothing like some unwanted truth to shake things up with this crew.

  27. Smokey says:

Who really cares, it’s Bermuda Day weekend!

  28. Huh says:

All I know is that if the PLP were still in charge of our Govt. all hope would be lost because they are the worst Govt. in Bermuda’s history

    • JustAskin2 says:

Actually i think that distinction belonged to the UBP during its last days.

      • Come Correct says:

How dare they leave the country a with money.

      • Zevon says:

Those days of over-employment, budget surpluses, negligible debt, and prosperity?

  29. Lone Wolf says:

Is anyone else bored with this PLP/OBA war? I know I am.
Just change the rules already. Get rid of any ‘opposition’. Merge the PLP with the OBA and let them govern together equally. Instead of Shadow Ministers, have one person from each party co-manage a ministry together, equally. OR, put OBA in charge of all the financial issues and put PLP in charge of PR and whatever else (or vice versa). There will never be equality among the people if our political parties remain so racially divided.
OR, get rid of both parties and select ONE President who can pick his or her own people from wherever they wish.

Something needs to change because instead of coming together, these two parties are just making the divide wider.

  30. Inabermystylie says:

407 people polled! The sample size for any accurate indication of what voters want is way to small. This poll is a joke, and so is anyone who takes any stock in these results!

  31. Triangle Drifter says:

The competant management of Bermuda is not some sort beauty contest or muck raking contest. It is serious business that needs to be quietly & effectively done.

Like it or not we are stuck with political partys for the foreseeable future. Me, I’d like to see some sort of proportional representation. No political partys.

I really don’t care if my rep does not eat at the same restaurants as me, does not enjoy the same sports as me, does not enjoy the same recreation as me. I want him/her to be competent, proffessional, well spoken, drug free & near as honest as there can be. He/she does not need to be my mate.

  32. Redman says:

51.4% of voters considered the PLP more in touch with the concerns of Bermudians…

This just proves that you can fool most of the people most of the time! It also tells us that the respondents aren’t really paying attention.

Lets just vote the PLP back in as we all know that they can run the island so much better… Not!!
