Artist LittleJJ Releases Song “This Is Bermuda”

June 21, 2015

Local musician Javoni Dowling Swan, known also by his stage name Little JJ, is continuing to work his way upward in the music business by trying his hand at everything from instruments to entertainment media, with the young artist recently releasing a new song called “This is Bermuda.”

The song explores everything from Bermuda favourites like Cup Match and BeachFest to island standards such as long socks and Rum Swizzle.

The artist said, “The song is called “This is Bermuda” and it is about Bermuda; a bit about our culture and summer time and talking a bit about being a young musician.”

LittleJJ’s introduction to music came in the form of learning to play the drums, an endeavor that saw him play overseas while also leading to him picking up the trombone and piano.

By the age of 14, Javoni had taken an interest in rapping. That interest, nurtured by a family member, took the young man to new places in his musical interests, eventually leading him to become a member of The Chewstick Foundation.

His involvement with Chewstick has lead to a variety of new opportunities, including the chance to perform on stage and at a series of open mic events.

Since joining Chewstick, Javoni has joined a music group called Red Army, featuring four rappers and three singers, and become part of a production team call SJS, where he has been exposed to recording music videos and documenting musical events via photography. His exposure has included being interviewed on Power 95 and having his songs played on the air.

LittleJJ is currently working on a music video for “This is Bermuda,” with a call out for those who would like to appear in the video; to apply for a spot to take part in the shoot, email voniboy58@hotmail.com.
