Jennifer Davidson, Kiarrah Rogers Join OBMI

June 30, 2015

OBM International, one of the world’s leading architectural and planning firms, welcomes two members to its award winning team.

“As an OBMI landscape architect, Jennifer Davidson brings business acumen, wide ranging cultural experience and a wealth of environmental knowledge to make landscape visions into reality. Kiarrah Rogers is returning for her second term as an OBMI intern while studying landscape architecture at Guelph University in Canada,” the company said.

“These enthusiastic individuals offer innovative perspectives born of education and practice. Davidson studied at University of Cape Town, South Africa to become a Master of Landscape Architecture. Her experience includes domestic and civic landscape architecture projects and co-design workshops. Her talent as an exhibiting botanical watercolour artist complements her skills as a landscape architect.

“Prior to studying landscape architecture, this native Bermudian achieved her Bachelor of Arts, Art History and Business Administration at Boston University. She put her business education to work to become Assistant Manager at Bank of Bermuda/HSBC, responsible for customer relations.”

“I believe landscape architecture plays an important role in the design, planning and management of outdoor experiences,” Davidson said. “Plants are traditionally associated with creating these experiences, but landscape architecture also includes shaping the land and hardscaping.

“The value that landscape architects add to the environment is very broad. This discipline contributes to creating sustainable environments and can positively benefit our physical and mental health. Landscaping can add real property market value to homes as well, and help reduce the time a house takes to sell. We can also increase the size of liveable space by creating outdoor living rooms.

“I feel fortunate to be able to call work something I really love,” Davidson said. “As a member of OBMI, I aspire to create positive, uplifting and comfortable spaces that people want to spend time in.”

Kiarrah Rogers also hails from Bermuda. She recently completed her second year of Guelph University’s four-year landscape architecture programme, combining two of her passions: geography and design. She intends to write her professional exams to become a licensed landscape architect at the end of the programme.

“Landscape architecture isn’t just about beautifying a space, it’s about solving problems with practical solutions,” Rogers said. “Storm water run-off, soil erosion, microclimates, and water and air quality are all issues that can be addressed with a thoughtful landscape.”

OBMI Regional Director Colin Campbell is delighted to welcome Jennifer Davidson and Kiarrah Rogers to the organization. “Our new team members will help us provide a wider breadth of services and offer greater value to our conscientious clients,” he said. “We are happy to be growing the next generation of Bermudians who are driven to design inspiring and sustainable private and public areas.”
