July 14, 2015

Armed Robbery Update July 14 2015 33

A police spokesperson said, “Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit are continuing their investigation into the armed robbery of a man at about 7:18am Monday 13th July, 2015.

“The complainant had left the Warwick ESSO gas station to make a deposit at a local bank, when he was assaulted by two men [pictured] on a red Yamaha Nouvo motorcycle, brandishing a firearm and a machete.

“The suspects are extremely distinctive in their attire, and would have been seen by motorists passing on Middle Road at the time – or by persons working in businesses between the Warwick ESSO/Bowling Alley towards Khyber Pass.

Armed Robbery Update July 14 2015

“Some members of the community will know the identity of these two persons,” the police continued.

“Anyone with information, or who saw this incident, is urged to come forward to assist in bringing these dangerous offenders to justice.

“If you have information or evidence that will assist, please contact Detective Inspector Colin King at the CID on 247-1252 or 295-0011.

“Members of the public that can assist in bringing the suspects to justice may also qualify for a monetary reward by calling Crime Stoppers on 800-8477.”

Update 4.17pm: The police have amended the information to reflect the motorcycle is a red Yamaha Nouvo, not a Honda Airblade.

  1. hush your mouth says:

lets get these brazen thieves off our streets. Someone knows who they are please say something…..

I hope the victim is recovering ok…..that must have been traumatic.

  2. Las Vegas says:

Let’s make it easy which either one of you gives the other one up first receives half time in jail. The clock is ticking!,,,,

    • Onion juice says:

A monetary reward is offered,I wonder if it can top the Ceo of B.T.A.

      • Truth and Nothing but the Truth says:

        @onionjuice GROW UP!

    • Dockyard Lackey says:

Something still not right here. Victim was on the way to a local bank at 7.20am to make a deposit, mostly cash I assume. I know the banks have night deposit slots, but no bank is open for business at that time of the morning. The gas stations have safes, so why not keep the cash there until a more secure method of transporting the money to the bank is available. Or like most businesses, hire a security company to pick up your deposits. I am not pointing a finger at the victim, but this sounds like an inside job. You don’t just do an armed robbery on some unsuspecting person at that time of the morning unless you know it’s worth the risk. Only in BDA!

      • dal says:

And… The fact that they found the victims bike just down the road…. was thinking the same thing..

  3. Let there be hope says:

They should have license plate on the front as well.

    • Straight2ThePoint says:

Get out of the comment section with that bs.

    • Shameful! says:

Are you high? Obviously even with a front license plate you don’t think they would have taken that off just like they did the back one. Go grab a coffee lol

    • SMH says:

Since when do bikes have a plate in front dummie? Its a bike not a car! Lord help your dumb self

    • George says:

They didn’t even have one on the back so why would you think they would abide by any new law and carry one on the front?!

    • serengeti says:

I agree. Anything to make it harder for crooks to get away with it.

Maybe RFID as well, like on cars.

    • Free rashun says:

Your a real fool,if they took off the back one dont you think they would’ve took off the front one if they had it

  4. just an expat says:

a license plate on the front.. is your main concern? bike’s probably hot.. but someone knows that orange rain gear..that is hard to miss..

  5. BDA says:

Red Nouvo Elegance for the record.

    Regardless, this needs to stop.

  6. not again says:

Oh Look! Dark Visors yet Again!!! How Many Times before they are outlawed??

    • bob13 says:

      Guns too!! Oh, wait…

    • Anbu says:

Dark visors r not the problem. People need to get over that crap. Next you all will be saying no full face helmets. Big a** shades and a bandana hide u just as good. Stop that. Why should we all haveto suffer caise of these idiots?! How about the police actually do tgeir damn jobs and start kicking in doors. Oh wait that would infringe on a “criminal’s” rights. Cant have that

      • Enough says:

Suffer from banning dark visors? Are you for real?? Buy some shades.

Dark visors aren’t the problem, you’re right, but they are part of the problem. The point about banning dark shaded visors is that at the moment someone can be coming or going to commit a crime and it doesn’t draw attention. If they are made illegal then the police can pull over people wearing them, just as they would people wearing bandannas around their faces, as there is then an obvious reason for using them.

    • chief says:

whats the difference with full-face helmets u goin to ban them too?? and what about dark visors when we just legalized darker tint on cars?? let me guess u catch the bus??

  7. SMH says:

If they haven’t already, they need to go to TCD or insurance companies and find out who owns all [red] airblades and arrest every single one until someone speaks up.

    • Onion juice says:

Well we know that the rider is Black, wanna round up all them too, @$$ hole.

      • Ed Case says:

No matter how many times you change your name Onion Juice – you are still the same negative, ill mannered person.

School will be back in soon and you’ll regret all the wasted time blogging this summer. In a few years you’ll go to BIG School – and eventually you’ll be able to complain that you can’t get a job cos expats and others who aren’t real Bermudians stole them all.

      • serengeti says:

Ok, I see your point point. They should talk to all the black owners of airblades. Hopefully they’re already doing that.

      • Terry says:

Could have been me or similar.
I am a dark skinned Portuguese.
        Your point again.

        • Buck-a-Roo says:

Terry – the solution is simple. Don’t bother banning dark visors or full-face lids. Ban cash instead! Leaves the crims nothing to steal :-)

  8. Anonymous says:

In Malaysia and other countries the bike license number is put on the front fender with stickers. I know they can be removed but they could be the type that won’t stick again if removed.

  9. FYI says:

    That’s a Yamaha Nouvo Elegance.

  10. Kat says:

and the saga continues………….maybe if you BAN the FULL FACED HELMETS then it might be 60% more likely they would think twice.

    • Anbu says:

Full faced helmets protect your face. Do u even ride a bike?! Never gonna happen. Think about it.

      • Onion juice says:

And ban all stockings which can be used to cover you face and scarfs and bandana’s and tee shirts that you can tie around your face and …….

      • Awake says:

Sorry, but years ago, no one wore a full-faced hemet. It took one person to make it a fashion, and as usual, everyone followed suit. What exactly, does a full faced helmet protect your face from? It would be interesting to find out how many robberies occurred prior to the introduction of these helmets.

        • FBB says:

I’m sorry but full face helmets are not fashion. They exist to protect your lower face and jaw in the event of an accident. Ask my buddy who smashed all his teeth out in an accident. BTW, tearing off yor jaw in a bike crash will kill you just as surely as a broken skull. It’s a safety thing.

          • Sweet T says:

Visors can be for protection and also a hindrance!!! All depends on how you land and what you hit. My cousin and a friend of mine’s visor cracked on impact and they both received facial damage

        • DUH says:

What are you really saying? This makes no sense. What do you mean what do they protect your face from?! THE PAVEMENT. I have been in a very very bad accident and whole body messed up what was untouched was my face because of my visor being down. So please try to think and make sense.

          • serengeti says:

Do they really need to be tinted so dark they are opaque?

        • PBanks says:

          Bugs, for starters.

While there’s some controversy regarding dark tinted ones, the clear ones and the slightly opaque ones should definitely be ok.

That said, Awake, I wouldn’t mind a study being revealed either.

        • bermyguy says:

you sound like an a$$ u think no crimes happened in bermuda before full faced helmets. crimes didnt appear 10-15 years ago.

        • Ed Case says:

          Awake:

Sorry, but years ago, no one wore a helmet. It took one person to make it a fashion, and as usual, everyone followed suit. It would be interesting to find out how many robberies occurred prior to the introduction of helmets.

Now see how stupid your comment is?

          • Gptp says:

The reason why they where not worn is because the half shell does not protect your head completely. They stopped selling them also because they where dangerous hence why i believe we had alot of road fatalities. But you have all digressed! We as a community have failed each other in Bermuda. We play the blame game and hold no accountability for our actions! This type of behaviour didn’t pop up over night! We got to turn this island around together as people and make this island the gem of the sea it once was! And yes they are wrong for what they did but sitting here and not actually trying to fix the problem won’t help. Bermuda we are better than this

        • Lone Wolf says:

@Awake – The full face helmets and/or helmets with full face visors also protect your face and eyes from many things. falling berries, bees, flying debris, etc. If you have ever been riding and had some UFO hit you in the face then you would know why we regular bike riders are in favour of face protecting helmets. It HURTS and, depending on what the object is, can even cause an accident.

My helmet is a regular helmet with a CLEAR full face visor. That way my face is protected and others can still see who I am. Not to mention that I can still protect my face AND see through it at night.

As for tinted visors or actual full face helmets, banning them won’t do any good. Guns and Robberies are illegal and the criminals are still using guns to commit robberies. Does anyone REALLY think banning dark visors will change anything?

    • BlessYourHeart says:

You mean the same way they ban certains levels of tint but still nobody gives a damn?

    • bermyyout says:

nolan n33 helmets are not full-face helmets by the way

  11. Don't Block Me says:

    This is sad!

  12. Awake says:

If the victim is the same person that always does the bank deposits, maybe he’s being watched. It seems a tad bit strange, doesn’t it?

  13. All phones have GPS…look at all phones in that area two in one place…assume timeline and route voila?!?

    • bermyguy says:

you would have to assume they have a phone

  14. Micro chip any and all convicted persons!

  15. Cisco says:

Some of you are so funny, actually pathetic… you must wait for some crime or any type of news, so that you can bash each other..

  16. winner winner chicken dinner says:

i would think a orange outfit like that would be recognizable.

    • hmmm says:

It’s more of a red than orange I think, but the Camera has made it seem more orange…. Didn’t a witness say red?

      Form prior article……

“One of the suspects was wearing a red rain jacket, and the second suspect had on blue jeans and a light coloured sweat top. They made their escape in an easterly direction.”

  17. smart says:

If you band tinted visors there will still be ways of tinting visors for ocassions like these. Inoccent people use tinted visors due tosun light/glare to their vision while riding.

    • Enough says:

Then those people get pulled over, searched and fined. I ride my bike fine with no tinted visor and a pair of shades on.

      • Time Shall Tell says:

Then this bike should of been pulled over, searched & fined as well for riding with no licence plate. What works for you, works for you. Other people prefer full face visors, they offer far better protection then a pair of shades ever could.

  18. JohnBoy says:

Well one has his prison getup on already.

  19. desmondp says:

why cant we make that people cant wear dark vissors. all the criminal use the dark visors as a cover. then wen we see a person with a dark visor it would be noticed more hopin to allert police n the community to eatch out for guys like this. sorry its a money issue bike shops may loose to much money n prob have government in thier pocket about never doin a law like that.

    • bermyyout says:

also people that cant have bright light in their eyes use dark visors. dark visors aren’t the problem.

    • Iggrunce says:

Right, great idea. Criminals always want to follow the law when…um….breaking the law?

  20. Oh,I see now says:

What we don’t need is to start putting all Japanese Bermudians in internment camps because a Japanese Bermudian robbed someone…get my drift. The wheels of justice turn a little slow sometimes but they are ah turnin. These ignorant fools will be caught like most by their own hand being broke iis no excuse to terrorize someone.

  21. bermyyout says:

how to you get robbed by someone that looks like a traffic cone lol

  22. SNS says:

The orange jumpsuit is fitting!! Get his @$$!!

  23. growupyoudummy says:

  24. D says:

      That’s great.
No more comments on the 4.7 billions sites out there.
      Great thought.

  26. ssmmhh says:

  27. Gptp says:

Everyone wearing an orange jump suit that I’m familiar with were subsequintly decapitated…..not a pretty thought. ….

  29. Just a matter of time says:

All this band aid talk. How about taking a 30K ft approach. When you live in an expensive society that continually favors one group over another, cutting important social programs, creating disenfranchisement and lack of opportunities, desperate people do desperate things. A common pattern. But of course no one wants to hear that…

  30. Blowmyfish says:

These images have been edited in Photoshop. If you want justice, provide the public with raw images, so that we can identify the persons/scooter and report these morons when recognized.
