ICC Select Christian Burgess & Delray Rawlins

July 28, 2015

The International Cricket Council [ICC] announced the squad for Phase 2 of the ICC Americas Cricket Combine that will be held in Indianapolis, USA from September 24– 27, with Bermuda’s Christian Burgess and Delray Rawlins named to the team.

Following the Combine an ICC Americas representative team will be selected to play in the West Indies Cricket Board’s Nagico Super 50 tournament in January 2016, after which the best performing players could receive an opportunity to trial for the Caribbean Premier League.

The squad was selected following consultation with Associate and Affiliate Members in the ICC Americas Region, with strong consideration given to performances during the ICC Americas Division One held in May, and the recently completed ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in Ireland and Scotland.

The selection process was coordinated by ICC Americas High Performance Consultant Tom Evans, together with ICC High Performance Manager, Richard Done.

In announcing the squad, Evans said: “There are plenty of talented players in the Americas Region, therefore this selection process was certainly challenging.

“We attempted to select the best performing players during recent ICC events, however, for those that missed out, the opportunity to be identified during Phase 1 still exists. That is one of the exciting features of the Combine.”

An online application process was launched in June for Phase 1, with eligible players encouraged to submit information and videos highlighting their performances. Several hundred applications are now being assessed, with an announcement on those invited to attend Phase 1 to be made in the coming weeks.

Phase 1 of the Combine will be held in Indianapolis from September 18 to 21, with the best performing players then added to the Phase 2 squad.

Former West Indian captain and ICC Hall of Fame inductee Courtney Walsh, and internationally renowned fielding coach Mike Young will be part of the Combine coaching panel.

The Phase 2 squad is:

  • Akeem Dodson – USA
  • Cecil Pervez – Canada
  • Christian Burgess – Bermuda
  • Delray Rawlins – Bermuda
  • Fahad Barbar – USA
  • Farhan Malik – Canada
  • Hammad Shahid – USA
  • Hamza Tariq – Canada
  • Junaid Siddiqui – Canada
  • Muhammad Ghous – USA
  • Muneshwar Patandin – Suriname
  • Naseer Jamali – USA
  • Navneet Dhaliwal – Canada

  • Saad Bin Zafar – Canada
  • Satsimranjit Singh Dhindsa – Canada

The ICC Americas region is part of the ICC’s Development Programme, which aims to grow and improve cricket within ICC’s 95 Associate and Affiliate Member countries.
