LSAB To Host Legal Dialogue For Students

July 1, 2015

On Wednesday 8th July, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, the Law Students’ Association of Bermuda [LSAB] will be hosting a legal dialogue for the islands law students and final year high school students.

A LSAB spokesperson said, “Students will hear from leading practitioners in their respective industry of law. The purpose of this forum is for students to be introduced to the different segments of law and begin charting their career paths to the areas of law that most interests’ them. Students will have the benefit of hearing attorneys who specialise in family law, civil law [both private and public], insurance law and criminal law.

“There is also a compliance segment. For those students who are finishing their training course with either the Legal Practise Course or the Barristers Professional Training Course, there is an opportunity to hear from a pupil Barrister on the expectations of the industry and other important features that will help shape the students’ perspective.

“This year we have also incorporated a segment for persons who wish to obtain a law degree, but it is not their intention to practise law. There will be a specialist who deals with the compliance industry who can explain the benefit of holding a law degree.

“Historically, this event was engineered for high school students and was known in 2013 and 2014 as the Annual High Schools Legal Conference. However, the Association has taken the view that a programme of this magnitude is best suited for persons already in their studies, in addition to persons who will commence legal studies in the fall.

“It is our hope that we can attract as many persons as possible to attend and receive pertinent information. The event will take place in the BF&M Room of the Bermuda Insurance Institute located on Church Street in the Sofia House, 4th Floor [building next to the Bermuda Post Office]. Light refreshments will be served. If persons are seeking further information they can email the Association at info@lsabermuda.org.”
