SVR Working To Get Beenie Man To Bermuda

July 1, 2015

beeniemanThe SVR Organizing Committee said they would like to acknowledge the concerns over the recently publicized travel restrictions on reggae artist Beenie Man, saying they are ”working assiduously” to get Beenie Man to Bermuda for their Cup Match event and are “very much prepared to present a stellar experience in the event that Beenie Man’s restrictions prove insurmountable.”

Last month the Jamaica Star reported, “Dancehall artiste Beenie Man who was booked to perform a Best of The Best recently in Miami was denied entry to the United States. According to the promoter of the event, Jabba, Beenie Man was paid his deposit, however, he called on the day of the event to say he was denied entry to the US.”

The organisers of the event said, “The SVR Organizing Committee would like to acknowledge the concerns of many of our supporters regarding the recently publicized travel restrictions placed on our headline artist Beenie Man.

“Rest assured that we are working assiduously to get Beenie Man to Bermuda for our signature Cup Match event.

“Also, we are very much prepared to present a stellar experience in the event that Beenie Man’s restrictions prove insurmountable for this summer.

“SVR is a celebration of all things Caribbean and spectacular; as such, we guarantee that the SVR experience will not be dampened in any way if Beenie Man is unable to travel to Bermuda.

“Finally, the focus this year is the Cloud Nine VIP, which will be even better than last year, and features an open bar and catered cuisine. If you’ve been to an SVR event in the past, expect that level of sheer delight and more!”

The Soca Versus Reggae Cup Match After Party will take place at Tiger Bay in St. George’s on Friday, July 31st. For more information please see their website.

  1. I LOVE MY LIFE!! says:

Also, we are very much prepared to present a stellar experience in the event that Beenie Man’s restrictions prove insurmountable for this summer. So in other words DON’T BUY YOUR TICKET YET!!! At least your giving me the warning!!!

    • Onion juice says:

He better have a LIVE band.
I refuse to pay BIG $$$$ to hear an entertainer perform to dub plates.

      • Tyrone says:

I hope he doesn’t come, he called gay people ”child molesters’, I hope we are more enlightened as an island than that.

He should be banned in the interests of the public, homophobic idiot.

      • impressive. says:

i agree, to have any artist perform in any genre of music without a live band is at best fraudulent.. Imho ofcourse. This is one thing as a music lover that I can’t stand, on top of that, there is nothing like a good live reggae band, especially if they have a good brass section..

  2. All I can say is wow says:

What if I’ve bought my VIP ticket already and specifically to see Beenie Man yet he doesn’t come? Who’s refunding me the 6 tickets I’ve bought?

  3. Thinker says:

    Duh!!!
    Is that real worth asking??

  4. Kangoocar says:

Not that for the life of me will you see me at his concert, but here is a suggestion, how about he fly through Toronto???,or is he banned from Canada as well?? If so, why on earth would we want an individual like that here??? By the way, who is he?? Never heard of him????

    • King Jammys says:

Beanie man has been making tunes since he was eight “try some hustling”

      • Kangoocar says:

Thanks for letting me know he has been making tunes since he was 8?? But actually I don’t care if he has been making tunes since he was 2?? If he is not allowed into Canada as well, then I don’t think he is a good roll model for anyone to support??? Countries do not put you on their STOP lists if you have conducted yourself appropriately??? would do you think????

        • impressive. says:

Man,, come out of that OBA hole you living in.. You can’t make a comment without even having a subtle dig at someone.. Who cares what you care, and who you have heard of, and where you would go.. Tell you one thing, if the OBA was bringing him in to do some form of event to gather support, something tells me, you would find something positive to say about him.. Also, one can be put on a stop list for life for having a few “flower buds” in their pocket, where their only intention was to relax,, just saying.

          • Kangoocar says:

This is where people like you get me wrong, I am NOT a member of any political party, I only say things the way I see it!! I for the life of me cannot understand how anyone would support any person that seems to be on stop list in now what appears THREE countries, therefore making it impossible to get here??? He has not obviously conducted himself in a respectable manner and anyone that would send money ( through supporting his music ) needs their heads examined??
And lastly, I highly doubt the OBA would bring anyone to this island that has the low level of character that this ” beanie ” guy seems to have!!!

    • Stop him says:

If he’s on the stop list in the US, Canada, and the UK (all of which have flights from Jamaica to Bermuda), then why in the world would he not be stopped at the airport here?

      • Think again says:

He hasn’t committed an offence in this island. Lets break it down for you. If you breach any criminal laws in Bermuda the US Consulate stops you from entering their Country. The person’s name is entered in their data base as a undesirable. Individuals make themselves ineligible for convictions involving drugs, theft, fraud, arson, assault.

Next time you and the boys are at a party and someone spills a drink on you and you feel like smacking them. Think about not travelling to the USA for the rest of your life. Your family will be flying every year on vacation and you’ll be stuck on this rock until 80 years old.
I am sure USA Immigration reads the local media.

        • Zevon says:

So we’re bringing a convicted criminal here to rap over karaoke backing tracks. How wonderful.

        • Stop him says:

Oh OK, so he’s only committed offenses in other places, sufficient for three nations to ban him, but not here…. yet Got it. Sounds like a real winner.

    • Walks like a Duck says:

We don’t need any advice from the OBA/UBP paid cheerleader. You are the example of 2 Bermudas.

      • Mr. Sparkle says:

We certainly don’t need this violence promoting bigot here.
“The artist, otherwise known as Anthony Moses Davis, gained infamy with tracks featuring anti-gay lyrics such as ‘Hang chi chi gal wid a long piece of rope’ and ‘Tek a bazooka and kill batty-f****r”
No wonder he is banned in many countries. He also could use some English grammar lessons.

        • PBanks says:

Um, the genre of music tends to use the local dialect, not proper English grammar.

  5. Truth is killin' me... says:

    Yawn…sim…simmer

  6. Terry says:

    A rock.
    Shalom.

  7. Bermyboy says:

    Oh Boy! What a mess!

  8. Southampton says:

    Keep him away from Bermuda.
If you allow him to enter Bermuda, you open the door for other
who are not welcome to the U.S. to come to Bermuda.

    • Time Shall Tell says:

Guess you have never heard of the stop list, if you had then you would know Bermuda is full of people not welcome to the U.S.

      • somuchless says:

The uigars come to mind. Different situation but similar.

  9. OMG says:

OMG, everyone it is simply for a concert for those who LOVE REGGAE! If you don’t, DON’T COME! & keep your negative comments to yourself.

  10. Ed Case says:

I just listened to one of his songs. The entire song contained only two notes, 99% being just the one note. The wheelchair guy who invented time could’ve sung it better.

If this is the best Beanie can do after making tunes since he was seven, i’d hate to hear his earlier stuff.

  11. Impressive says:

Dacnehall is dance music was started as a voice for the under priviledged or the very poor. no, there music is not perfect all the time, and with the patois, it makes the lyrics even more difficult to the average person. There are many genres of music where the artists talk a great deal of crap at times, but many of us would sing along and enjoy ourselves singing crazy lyrics.. lol.. Moral of the story, if you want things to complain about Mr. Ed Case, I got a few other suggestions for you

  12. Soca lover says:

So is he coming? Does anyone have an update?
