Video & Photos: Somerset Cup Match Motorcade

August 1, 2015

[Updated with video] The police have advised that there may be traffic delays this afternoon [Aug 1] due to a celebratory motorcade making its way across the island, with approximately 50 vehicles having left Somerset Cricket Club at around 2pm.

The motorcade follows after the defending champions Somerset defeated St George’s to retain the Cup Match trophy for another year, with Somerset claiming the Cup while playing in the east — something which has not occurred since 1981

Police Media Manager Dwayne Caines said, “The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public that a motorcade with approximately 50 vehicles left Somerset CC at 2pm and will make its way east. The Motorcade will make several stops and then travel back West.”

      • Ms. Poli Tician says:

What?!?!?!? Politics today, of all days?????? Get a life already! There ought to be a law about ruining such a nice holiday with sour political commentary. Just enjoy the long weekend, like I’m sure The Premier and Speaker are doing:-/

      • Nieks says:

Onion Juice, I don’t understand your comment, could you please explain a little more, it sounds a little political to me, if so, lets leave politics out of it and enjoy the day.

  4. wow says:

Can we get a bigger cup, maybe somewhere near the size of the BPL trophy?

    • Fan says:

NO. That’s the Cup. The same cup the grandfathers and the great grandfathers and their grand fathers held, polished and drank out of in times of victory. Sometimes history and tradition is best left alone. Way to go Somerset!
