Sunday August 2nd: “Good News” Spotlight

This weekend’s Cup Match celebrations, the PHC Foundation awarding $40,000 in scholarships, and student Ciara Rego receiving a $20,000 KPMG scholarship were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

Other good news stories included the Reefs Resort & Club being named number three by Travel + Leisure World’s Best’s rankings, Security Associates donating $2,500 towards the upcoming Back to School Extravaganza, and young debaters Zaji Smith and Destinee Taylor heading to the British Virgin Islands in order to represent Bermuda.

On a sporting note, five of the nine female Bermuda basketball players participating in the Keystone State Camps were named all-stars, footballer Rai Simons scored in a Chesterfield victory, Bermuda’s gymnasts won 17 medals at the Island Games, Bermuda’s U20 football team defeated St. Kitts 7-0 and Somerset won the coveted Cup Match trophy.
