Allan Douglas Wins Cricket Sportsman Award

September 11, 2015

The Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] announced the winner of the Chivas Cricket Sportsman Award for week 13 is Allan Douglas Jnr of Cleveland County CC.

The BCB said, “Captain of Cleveland, Allan Douglas was bowling the 33rd over of the Rangers’ innings. During the over, Derek Brangman, the Rangers’ non-striker was running through for an attempted single when he collided with Douglas.

“Due to the collision when Douglas threw the ball to the wicket-keeper Brangman was still out of his crease. Before the wicket-keeper broke the wicket Douglas quickly stated to the umpire that he will not be appealing for the run-out [despite it being within his right to do so]. The Cleveland team accepted their captain’s decision.

“For his commitment to the spirit of cricket and act of sportsmanship in a tense game, Allan Douglas Jnr has been selected as the Chivas Sportsman of the week.”
