Student Art Competition Open For Submissions

The Bermuda National Gallery [BNG] is getting set to host the 2015 Student Art Competition, under the theme “Local Action, Global Impact: A Community Project on the World,” with a call for submissions now open.

Submissions can be made until Thursday, November 19 at 4.00pm, with the exhibition itself to take place from December 7 to 31, and an awards ceremony to be held on December 10. Submissions will be categorized into age groups including 6-10, 10-13, and 13-17, and a student group category.

The event poster calling for submissions says, “Students are asked to explore sustainable development by addressing present and future global challenges and creating more sustainable ways of living in our societies.

“Students are asked to consider the three issues of sustainable development: Climate Change, Biodiversity and Disaster Risk-Reduction. The use of recyclable materials is encouraged [but not limited to]. Along with the artwork, students are to submit a descriptive paragraph, a poem or a short story.”

The exhibition will be free for members, students, seniors, school groups, and NARM members, and $5 for non-members.
