Community Service For High Speed Chase

September 26, 2015

Appearing in Magistrates Court, a 25-year-old man was sentenced to 80 hours of community service for leading police on a high speed chase.

The Court heard that Joshua Boorman led police on a high speed chase from South Shore Road in Warwick, on to Ord Road, then on to Middle Road near Warwick Academy before the car that he was in was stopped.

On being stopped, Boorman sought to escape on foot but was quickly captured.

All of this came out in the facts presented by the Crown Prosecutor who gave the evidence that supported the charges of speeding at 71kph, driving dangerously, having no drivers licence, and failing to stop for police.

Once stopped, police took Boorman into custody.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered 80 hours of Community Service as the punishment for the four offences.
