Court: Man Charged With Cash, Drug Offences

September 24, 2015

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Sept 24], a 53-year-old man was granted $100,000 bail after being charged with possessing illegal drugs alleged to have a value of around $200,000.

Dwayne Gilbert was required to provide a surety in a like amount and surrender his travel documents after facing five charges.

The first two charges were that in August 2014, in an Increased Penalty Zone, he possessed cocaine and diamorphine [heroin] that were intended for supply.

He was also charged with possessing cocaine that was intended for supply; and possessing a scale that was intended for use with illegal substances.

The fifth charge was that he had around $11,900 in his possession that he knew or believed was in whole or in part, the proceeds of criminal conduct.

Because the charges were indictable and can only be heard in the Supreme Court, Mr Gilbert was not required to enter a plea.
