Former Premier To Be Honoured In New York

Former Premier, Dr. Ewart Brown will be honored by St. Jago High School at their 271st Anniversary Reunion Banquet next month in New York.

The Jamaican high school will be presenting the former Premier and alumni of St. Jago with the O.R Bell Laureate Award.

Dr. Brown remarked, “I am grateful to be honored by St. Jago; a school that holds a special place in my heart. At one point in my childhood I thought that maybe school was not in my future. I came to St. Jago and actually got a new lease on life. That’s why I think I have this deep love and affection for Jamaica and St. Jago.”

The St. Jago High School 271st Anniversary Reunion Banquet will be held on October 3rd in New York.

St. Jago High School founded in 1744, is one of the oldest, continuously operated schools in the Western Hemisphere. It is renowned for graduating some of Jamaica’s senior military officers, world class cricketers, academic scholars, performing artists, and Olympic athletes.

    I know that Jamaica hold a special place in the hearts of those of us who were ‘banished’ there in the sixties. It is a singular honour for Dr. Brown to receive this award from St. Jago, and I congratulate him on the accomplishment.
