PGA Grand Slam Of Golf Cancelled This Year

September 8, 2015

The PGA Grand Slam of Golf, which was set to be held in Los Angeles, has been cancelled for this year with the PGA saying “due to the timing and logistics needed to stage the PGA Grand Slam of Golf to the highest standards, we are disappointed that we will not be able to conduct the event this year.”

Last year the PGA confirmed that the event will move from Bermuda, which first came to Bermuda in 2007, marking the first time the event was played outside of the United States. It was first played at Mid Ocean Club, and in 2009 the PGA Grand Slam moved to Port Royal Golf Course.

The Grand Slam was originally supposed to be played in October at Trump National in Los Angeles, however it was then set to move from the Trump course after businessman Donald Trump received criticism for his remarks about Mexican immigrants while launching his candidacy for U.S. president.

In a statement confirming the cancellation, the PGA said, “Due to the timing and logistics needed to stage the PGA Grand Slam of Golf to the highest standards, we are disappointed that we will not be able to conduct the event this year.

“This was a memorable year for major championship golf and the PGA of America congratulates Jordan Spieth, Zach Johnson and Jason Day on their impressive wins. We look forward to conducting the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in 2016.”
