Charity Golf Classic Tournament Set For Oct 23

October 6, 2015

HSBC, in partnership with The Centre on Philanthropy, will be hosting its second annual Charity Golf Classic, a fundraiser in support of “strengthening the Bermuda community,” at the Port Royal Golf Course on October 23.

The event wil have an 8.30am shotgun start. Twenty foursomes will be available to members of the community, with a $2,000 registration fee per foursome which includes greens fees, carts, continental breakfast, lunch buffet and tournament prizes.

$1,000 of each foursome’s registration fee will be donated to the local registered charity of their choice, and HSBC has committed to match all donations made.

A spokesperson said, “In 2014, the events hosted 21 foursomes and raised a total of $42,000 towards Bermuda’s third sector and community which benefitted the 16 local registered charities, including The Bermuda Stroke and Family Support, Friends of Hospice, The Centre on Philanthropy, Age Concern, The Bermuda Sloop Foundation, Teen Services/Teen Haven, YouthNet, Action on Alzheimers & Dementia, Bermuda Education Network, Bermuda Cancer & Health, Salvation Army, Big Brothers & Sisters, LCCA, PALS, Coalition for the Protection of Children, and The Sunshine League.”

HSBC CEO Richard Moseley said, “We are grateful for the continued partnership and support from The Centre on Philanthropy in helping to organise the charitable donation and event registration process. HSBC looks forward to hosting the 2nd Annual Charity Golf Classic event in partnership with the Centre on Philanthropy in 2015.”

Elaine Butterfield, Executive Director, The Centre on Philanthropy, said, “We are excited to be partnering with HSBC once again for this wonderful event. HSBC is to be commended for their support of the charitable sector and we are proud to do our part. The funds raised will go a long way towards providing support where it will really count.”
