Committee Of 25 Charged In Magistrates Court

A representative from the Committee of 25 for Handicapped Children appeared in Magistrates Court today [Oct 28] to face a charge involving operating the Bargain Box for the purpose of receiving charitable donations from the public in a public place.

Ms Nicola O’Leary, said by lawyer Richard Horseman to be the Chairperson of the Committee of 25 for Handicapped Children, answered for the charity and pleaded not guilty.

The charge alleged that between 18 July 2013 and 1 October 2015, the Committee did operate the Bargain Box for the purpose of receiving charitable donations from the public in a public place, and the Court heard the Committee was allegedly not a registered charity at that time.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo set 13 November for Mention and granted bail at $1,000.
