BTA & ACBDA Seek To Engage Taxi Industry

October 6, 2015

The Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] invites all taxi owners and operators to a series of America’s Cup briefings dedicated to their industry.

On Thursday, October 8, BTA officials will provide four convenient 30-minute sessions designed to show appreciation for, and share information with, taxi drivers.

The sessions will take place at Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute at 10am, 12pm, 3pm and 4pm. Refreshments will be available.

“As we near the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series it’s important to provide reliable information to taxi drivers who are in a prime position to positively affect the visitor experience,” said BTA CEO Bill Hanbury. “This is just one of many actions we are taking to ready our hospitality industry for the world stage.”

The America’s Cup Event Authority [ACEA] and America’s Cup Bermuda will also participate in the taxi driver briefings on Thursday to share the latest information about the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series.

“We appreciate that taxi drivers are a very important source of information for visitors to Bermuda. In fact, taxi drivers are very often the first point of contact a visitor will have,” said Peter Rusch, Communications Director for ACEA.

“We want to share details about the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series with drivers so they will be in a position to inform guests and provide a positive experience.”

With the understanding that taxi drivers need flexible schedules, there is no registration requirement to participate in the sessions. However, any taxi driver with questions can contact the BTA’s Product & Experiences division on 296.9200.
