End-to-End Invite Charities To Apply For Support

October 10, 2015

The Bermuda End-to-End invites local charities to apply for support from funds raised in its 29th annual Island-wide event, to be held May 7, 2016.

“Each year, all the funds raised by those who generously pledge to support our 3,000 participants in the event are given to Bermuda charities,” says Anne Mello, chair of the End-to-End Charitable Trust. “Over the event’s 28 years, more than $5 million has been given to local charities – a record we are proud to have.”

This year, participants in the XLCatlin End-to-End event will once again be working to support Bermuda’s families, and funds from the event will be given to four or five charities only. Each charity chosen will be given $50,000 to $65,000.

“We believe resilient families are the foundation of a strong and healthy community,” says Mrs. Mello. “But the continuing economic downturn we are facing in Bermuda is taking its toll.

“Many of our families continue to struggle with enormous challenges, and significant funds from the proceeds of the XLCatlin End-to-End event can do much to help them overcome these obstacles.”

Applications are invited to address one of the following areas:

  • 1. Seniors-Basic needs [food, shelter, clothing] and support services
  • 2. Youth-Enrichment opportunities to help overcome negative social issues
  • 3. Families-Support services for physical and emotional trauma

Submissions must come from charities registered in Bermuda which are not affiliated with any religious or other sectarian group, and serve the local community. They must also provide complete financial statements. Submission budgets should be based upon a $50,ooo-$65,000 allocation.

Charities wishing to be considered must download and complete the official application form from the End-to-End’s website, bermudaendtoend.bm and return it to the charity by November end of business hours Friday, October 30.

The XLCatlin End-to-End event is organised by the Bermuda End-to-End Charitable Trust’s Board, and is supported by numerous local sponsors and individual event participants.
