Freddy Hall Signs Two Year Deal With Irish Club

November 12, 2015

Bermudian goalkeeper Freddy Hall has signed a two-year deal with Limerick Football Club in Ireland.

In announcing the deal, the club said, “The 30-year-old Bermudian international was a key figure in the Shannonsiders’ brave attempt to avoid relegation, where they gathered 23 points in their final 12 games to move off the bottom of the Premier Division table, only to fall at the final hurdle in the playoff.

“But the former Toronto stopper enjoyed his time so much with Limerick that he wants to help them bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking, and he believes they have a strong chance of doing so if they can keep the core group together.

“Hall – whose performances earned him the club’s Player of the Month award in September – flies out on Thursday morning for a well-earned break and he was delighted to secure a new deal before jetting off.”

“It feels good to be staying on,” Hall said. “We did well in the second half of the season and we feel there is unfinished business, especially after the way it ended.

“My agents, advisors and I talked about it and I wanted to stay here more than anything,” Hall added.

“I had other offers but I have really enjoyed my time here. It’s a good group and working with Eddie [Hickey – goalkeeping coach] has been really enjoyable.

“The run we went on was amazing. People couldn’t have thought we would do that. We put in so much hard work and we were gutted we couldn’t complete the job in the end.

“The supporters have been unbelievable. The Markets Field has been great for us and the support we had there and away from home was tremendous. We can’t take that for granted.”

Congrats!! For the naysayers who say they won’t allow their child to play football because it’s a sport that has anti-social behavior, well Hall is just an example of an investment of Bermuda’s football talent.

Football has currently up to a dozen players who play either Pro or Semi-Pro around the world. Name another sport in Bermuda that has half, or even three pro athletes. I’ll wait for your response!
