ICS Offers Businesses Free Security Screening

November 6, 2015

CheckPoint Software Technologies Ltd has teamed up with Independent Consulting Solutions [ICS] to assist locally based businesses in their efforts to ensure their networks and data are secure from the growing risk of cyber threats.

The company said, “ICS Bermuda Ltd, has been providing IT services since 1995, and has been Checkpoint’s leading representative in Bermuda. Now, the two companies have partnered to offer a free Security Checkup and Threat Analysis for local businesses. The Security Checkup service will uncover security risks and identify vulnerabilities within an organization’s network.

“Over the past few years the global cybercrime environment has become increasingly more pervasive and hostile, so much so that the US Director of National Intelligence ranked cybercrime as the top national security threat in 2014 and 2015. Cybercrimes have not only increased in frequency over the past few years, but the scale and sophistication of the attacks have risen to an alarming level.

“Since that time, a number of initiatives have commenced all aimed at strengthening Bermuda’s cybercrime resistance. This service will provide Bermuda businesses the ability to have a global security provider give up-to-date information on the threats that their companies are exposed to.”

Troy Symonds, Director of ICS said, “The headlines over the past year are a clear indication of what’s to come. Sony, JP Morgan, Home Depot all had significant data breaches in the past year, and these incidences are not cheap for these large businesses.

“Home Depot estimated the cost of their data breach in the region $62 million. Bermuda has also had its fair share of security threats. Some organizations locally have been affected by similar costly cyber threats, although they are not necessarily publicized.”

The purpose of the Security Checkup is to detect possible threats early to maintain the integrity of the organization’s enterprise network. After the assessment, the ICS team will provide a threat analysis report highlighting security risks including:

  • High risk web applications
  • Malware-infected computers
  • Data leakage incidents and;
  • Exploited vulnerabilities and attacks on the organizations network

The report will also include a full range of recommendations to protect against these and other security risks.

Speaking of the offer Mr. Steve Bull COO of ICS said: “We are excited to partner with CheckPoint to offer this service, free of charge to local businesses. It is our hope and desire that by supporting the local IT infrastructure we contribute to the greater goal of a stronger cybersecurity reputation for Bermuda.”
