Sunday November 8th: “Good News” Spotlight

News that Flora Duffy claimed her second consecutive world title at the Xterra World Championships, professional boxer Nikki Bascome defeated Pilo Reyes from Mexico, the Danish National Swim Team will train in Bermuda ahead of the 2016 Olympics, and Warwick Academy student Anthony Whaley creating a Devonshire-inspired Artful Bin, were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

Other good news stories included Bermuda’s Aaliyah Nolan, who plays for Navarro College in Texas, being named to the All-Region XIV Women’s Soccer team, Tre Ming, who attends Thomas College in Maine, earning North Atlantic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Year honours, AS Cooper & Sons sponsoring Miss Bermuda Alyssa Rose with a new wardrobe, and Nahki Wells scoring his fourth goal of the season.

Jonte Smith also recorded a goal for Gloucester City, rower Michael Swain won a silver medal in Virginia, the KFC campaign raised $1,000 for the Bermuda Red Cross, Condé Nast Traveler named Bermuda the fifth best island in the world and chef Michiko Campbell plans to give back to the community this holiday season by providing free meals to those in need.
