Video: BSA Athletes At Wushu Championships

The Bermuda Sanshou Association [BSA] are attending the 13th World Wushu Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia, with Sentwali Woolridge and Reyel Bowen both seeing action earlier today [Nov 17].

BSA president and coach Garon Wilkinson said, “Bermuda’s Sentwali Woolridge went down to multiple World Champion and World Sanda Cup medalist Sajjad Abbasiamir from Iran 2 rounds to 0.

“Woolridge was able to land a number of strong punch combinations on his opponent however was taken down numerous times and was forced off of the platform twice in the first and second round to bring the match to an end.

“Reyel Bowen faced Sandor Molnar of Hungary and went down 2 rounds to 0 in a tightly contested match up. Bowen was able to execute a number of one point punches and take downs however his opponent landed numerous two point kicks to the body in the first round.

“In the second round Bowen did a great job in closing the distance and shutting down his opponent’s kicks but came up short a few points in the second round with Hungary winning the match.”

The travelling team includes athletes Sentwali Woolridge, Reyel Bowen, and Krista Dyer; along with coaches, managers, and supporters.
