BCB Announce New DHL Youth Cricket Facility

The Bermuda Cricket Board announced that it has agreed a multi-year partnership with DHL as the exclusive logistics provider and that a customized cricket practice facility — the “DHL Youth Cricket Facility” — will be constructed over the coming months to support the continued development of youth cricket in Bermuda.

The BCB said, “The DHL Youth Cricket Facility is the culmination of the 3 entities working together to improve and enhance the cricketing facilities and equipment available to all young cricketers. The DHL Youth Cricket Facility will be located on the northern end of the Warwick Academy fields.

“The practice facilities will feature a 2 lane cricket net system and a bowling machine. The practice facilities and the cricket ground at Warwick Academy will be extensively used by BCB and club U11 and U14 youth teams.”

Lloyd Fray, President of the BCB, added, “This is a particularly exciting initiative as it helps the BCB on a number of key strategic areas. Firstly, youth cricket will be boosted by the DHL Youth Cricket Facility and increased use of the beautiful field at Warwick Academy.

“Additionally, cricket equipment and clothing can now be landed in Bermuda in a more cost effective manner. Furthermore, all stakeholders in cricket in Bermuda will be able to take advantage of the generous shipping packages being offered to them via this partnership. We continue to live in economically challenging times and this support from DHL will assist our clubs, members and youth cricketers enjoy our great sport.”

Rob Brown, Regional CEO of DHL said, “We are very proud to be a part of this and help grow and develop the youth of Bermuda anyway we can. I fully expect that the “DHL Youth Cricket Centre” will become a major hub for fun, safe and youth centric activities for a long time to come.”

David Horan, Head of Secondary at Warwick Academy, noted, “Warwick Academy has a growing youth cricket program and we are pleased to partner with DHL and the BCB to give our grassroots program a welcome boost. Not only will the DHL Youth Cricket Facility be available to all 800 of our students but our agreement with the BCB will make the nets and cricket field accessible to all.”
