Dare2 Be Launches Tag Day At Govt. House

December 8, 2015

Deputy Governor, Mrs. Ginny Ferson was first in line to purchase her unique holiday button from local charity Dare2Be, which has volunteers ready to hit the streets on Wednesday, December 9th selling both traditional tags and special holiday buttons.

Dare2Be Executive Director Deborah Blakeney explained; “There are so many tag days around this time of year so Dare2Be wanted to stand out from the crowd by offering donors a little extra festive cheer.

“In addition to regular tags, we are offering supporters who donate $4 or more a fun, festive button. There are several different styles, and we are hoping the community will give generously to collect one of each!”

Ms. Blakeney went on to note; “Another unique feature of our Tag Day is the fact we are holding it on a Wednesday, not on a Friday as is more traditional. We wanted to take advantage of the fact that there are only three discount Wednesday shopping days left until Christmas.

“So in addition to being in Hamilton, we will have volunteers positioned at grocery stores island-wide. Hoping savvy shoppers will be in a festive and giving mood.”

Dare2Be’s mission is to empower disenfranchised women to break their cycle of dependence through education, soft skills training, work shadows and ultimately, full-time employment. 100% of the proceeds from their tag day will go to supporting the programme.
