Nahki Wells: “I Want To Improve Every Game”

December 30, 2015

Following Nahki Wells recent three goal showing, he said he still wants more and plans to “keep going” as he wants to “improve in every game.”

The Bermudian striker scored twice on Boxing Day and then netted his eighth of the season – and third in two games – with a superb right-footed free kick that beat former England goalkeeper Rob Green in Huddersfield Town’s 1-1 draw at QPR on Monday afternoon.

“We’ve agreed that I’m on the free kicks from that side of the box; on the other side it’s between Emyr and Joe Lolley. With ‘Pato’ not on the pitch, I didn’t really have another right footer to question who will take it,” Nahki Wells told htafc.com after the final whistle.

“I fancied myself to step up and thankfully it found the back of the net. I’ve had a few this season and they have all come close, so it was only a matter of time until one went in. I’m delighted it came today.”

“It was a very tough game and we showed the guts to get back in it. We’ve got a good mentality and we’re physically fit and strong. The Head Coach said today that the last 15 minutes could win us the game and although it didn’t, we got back in it. I think we deserved the point, for sure.

“We played against some experienced, Premier League players out there and I think we can hold our heads high. We definitely looked the better in possession and got the better chances.

“Unfortunately they took the lead, but it was good to come back for the first time under the new Head Coach. We’re all feeling positive.”

“It’s definitely new, different and difficult, but I’m relishing it. I’m really enjoying my football; I love it again. I want to prove the critics wrong and show I can play up there on my own. We’re putting in a lot of hours, but it is starting to pay off. The whole squad has reacted to it and it’s going well.

“All the young, talented players are starting to thrive, which is exactly why I joined the Club. We’ve got some great creative players and I’m always going to get chances, so it’s up to me to take them.”

He concluded: “Confidence is everything for us; especially me. I’m at an all-time-high right now as we’re back to playing good football again and I’m getting goals. I’m level headed, but I still want more and I will keep going.

“I want to improve in every game and the Head Coach is definitely giving me the platform to. He believes in me.”
