Swimming: BASA Update Short Course Records

The Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association [BASA] have updated their short course meter records, following on the completion of the Mailboxes Unlimited Winter Age Group Championships at the BASA Pool and the Mega City Invitational Meet at the Etobicoke Olympium in Toronto, Canada, which saw strong swimming from a number of competitiors

In boys 11 and 12 competition at the Mailboxes Unlimited Winter Age Group Championships, Keagan Woolley broke an 11-year-old Time Trial record when he touched the wall during the 50m Breaststroke with a time of 35.35, breaking Chris Garcelon’s record of 0:36.80 set on April 17, 2004. Woolley then set a new 100m Breaststroke record of 1:17.01, breaking his own record of 1:19.80 set on November 7, 2015

In girls 13 and 14 competition, Emma Harvey broke her own record of 1:05.48, set on June 11, 2015, during the 100m Butterfly when she clocked 1:04.06; Harvey also set a new 200m Butterfly record of 2:25.28, breaking her own record of 2:31.97 set on January 31, 2015.

Harvey also set a new 200m Individual Medley record of 2:27.01, breaking her own record of 2:28.07 set on March 22, 2015; she then set a new 400m Individual Medley Record clocking 5:15.41, breaking her own record of 5:17.89 set on November 7, 2015.

Skyler Powell set a new 800m Freestyle Record of 9:44.02, breaking Shannon Hassell’s record of 9:45.34 set on July 16, 2013.

In boys 15 and 16 competition, Jesse Washington broke his own record of 52.81 set on March 22, 2015 during the 100m Freestyle when he clocked 52.41; Washington also broke his own record of 58.69 set on March 22, 2015 in the 100m Butterfly when he recorded a time of 58.57.

In girls 9 and 10 competition at the Mega City Invitational, Elan Daley broke her own record of 29.06 set on June 27, 2015 in the 50m Freestyle after she clocked a time of 28.46; Daley set a new 100m Freestyle Record of 1:02.57, breaking her own record of 1:02.94 set on November 8, 2015.

Daley broke Ashley Irby’s record of 5:12.99 set on June 8, 2012 during the 400m Freestyle when she clocked a time of 4:59.89. Her 100m Backstroke time of 1:12.77 broke her own record of 1:14.21 set on November 7, 2015, and she also broke her own record of 1:13.90 set on May 10, 2015 in the 100m Butterfly clocking a time of 1:11.36.

In boys 9 and 10 competition, Elijah Daley broke his own record of 2:51.89 set on June 28, 2015 in the 200m Backstroke, when he clocked a time of 2:48.28,; Daley set a new 50m Butterfly record of 35.47, breaking Jack Harvey’s record of 35.62 set on May 3, 2014.

Daley also set a new 100m Individual Medley time of 1:20.10, breaking Mitchell Gariepy’s record of 1:21.21 set on March 20th, 2010.
