Court: 20-Year-Old Prisoner Denies Charges

Appearing in Magistrates Court, Gavaska Bascome — who currently serving a prison term — pleaded not guilty to charges related to possession of cannabis and allegedly attempting to bring it into a prison.

The 20-year-old was charged with being in an Increased Penalty Zone in July 2015 and possessing the illegal substance cannabis.

He was also charged with attempting to convey banned goods into a prison; and with attempting to carry a high risk article into a prison.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo set trial for March and, recognizing that Bascome was serving a prison sentence, made no order regarding bail
