Taxi Driver Robbed By Knife-Wielding Suspect

Around 11:30pm on Thursday [Jan 14] Police responded to a report of a robbery in Southampton, in which two males brandished a knife at a taxi driver and demanded the driver hand over money.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 11:30pm on Thursday 14th January 2016, Police responded to a report of a robbery on South Road, Southampton near the Gulfstream Restaurant.

“It was reported that a taxi driver was dispatched to the area to collect a fare, when he was approached by to unknown males on a white motorcycle. The pillion passenger brandished what appear to be a knife and demanded the driver hand over money.

“The suspects fled the scene in an easterly direction toward Horseshoe Road. The pillion passenger was described as being brown skin, slim build and approximately 5’6′-7″ tall, wearing a brown jacket.

“Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call police on 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.”

    Too bad taxi drivers are not permitted to carry at the very least tasers. That would give the thieves something to think about knowing what could be in the car.

    They give all the power to the criminal, we are the lambs before the slaughter, the general public can not defend its self even if it wanted to. Well! that is not exactly true, we still have the pepper pot and to power of persuasion.
