Shooting Victim Not ‘Involved In Gang Activity’

February 3, 2016

The police have appealed for witnesses to the shooting that took place in Pembroke on January 22, and said “the victim, a 20-year-old man who we believe not to be involved in any gang activity, is making steady progress.”

Following the shooting last month, the police said that “it appears that a 20-year-old Pembroke man was riding his motorcycle turning on to Overview Hill when two males on another motorcycle rode next to him and opened fire, before leaving North Shore traveling east.”

“The victim, a 20-year-old man who we believe not to be involved in any gang activity, is making steady progress and is recovering from his injuries.

“Anyone with any information should contact Acting Inspector Jason Smith on 247 1218 or jsmith2@bps.bm.”

  2. swing voter says:

Okay this shyte has gone to far…..they are shooting innocent people and if I knew something, I sure as hell would give BPS a call, no reward necessary. C’mon people, it could be your innocent child next!!

  3. justice says:

I am glad this is now coming out, as I know this young man and he is a very positive. The family was very concerned that he was being painted as being gang affiliated when in fact nothing could be further from the truth. His family and friends would like to thank the Police for clearing this up as the only we truly have in this world is our Name and reputation and to struggle with watching our loved one going through this ordeal
as an innocent man and then to hear people saying serve him right as he was a gang member was very painful.

  4. Just One says:

Mistaken identity, a lot of guys look alike… We need to get the guns off the streets and keep them off! It could be anyone getting shot next!

  7. Tinted visors saves lives says:

This is a very sad and terrifying ordeal for this innocent young man to have to experience.
Unfortunately this may become the norm if the government make tinted visors illegal.. I know the logic seems warped but those in the know will understand..
I wish this young man a speedy and full recovery…

  8. Kindley says:

I’m so sorry for this young man and his family. I’m so glad he will recover from his physical wounds but the emotional side will take a lot longer to heal. I hope those responsible are caught and punished. This is not good for the people of Bermuda and tourists. I know crime is everywhere, but Bermuda has a different reputation than other islands…. safe and friendly!

  9. Joonya says:

Then we have a real problem.
Bring in the BOPEs to clean house from all the rats like they do down south.. Enough is enough!
