The show is written and produced by Dale Butler and directed by Karen Dill.

A spokesperson said, “After almost eight decades of entertainment, in Bermuda, that saw the likes of Maude Fox, Mark Williams, Ghandi Burgess, Freddie Matthews, Cecil “Pot” Gilbert, Triscott, Ernie Leader, Mildred Iris, the Talbot Brothers, Lance Hayward, Violetta Carmichael, Gene and Pink Steede, Stan Lord Necktie” Seymour, King Trott, Brian Butterfield, The Bermuda Strollers, Reuben Mc Coy, Jiggs, The Travellers, Jimmy O’Connor, The Savages, Hubert Smith and His Coral Islanders and Michael Clarke and the Cortinas, to name but a few, Bermuda’s nightclubs close.

“Just when it seems as though the legacy will be buried, a new entrepreneur arrives with a plan to open “The Pickles and Spiced Ham Entertainment Centre”. Recalling the standards established by Don and Elspeth Gibson, Olive Trott, Walter “Dickey” Green, Choy Aming and others, an entrepreneur decides to hold auditions for the centre.”

“Unfortunately, he finds fault with everyone and we learn his true intentions. But he loses his job and a pot of gold is the only hope for the revival of the Bermuda music industry. If you attend, you may be in it.

“In this new, and exciting musical, Dale Butler has developed a theme that highlights Bermuda’s glorious past of outstanding venues, and dynamic performers who were multi- talented and gifted. Not only will you hear some of Bermuda’s finest female singers today, but also hear the names of many legends who established the foundation for Bermuda’s tourism success.

“Having published two editions of “Music On the Rock”, this musical gives us an insight into the world of entertainment while recognising so many of the famous entertainers captured in his book and now a part of the Music Hall of Fame.

“The theme ‘Pickles and Spiced Ham’ alone brings back memories and will warm your heart with great memories of our past and also set the foundation for the future. This play is another triumph for Dale Butler who seems to capture the heart of Bermuda with his fishcakes, numerous books, movies and now stage plays.”

Tickets are available at Music Box and St. Paul AME, with part proceeds going to Mirrors and St. Paul AME.
