Ukrainian Based Cargo Plane Makes A Fuel Stop

February 24, 2016

Joining the recent visits by Royal Air Force [RAF] military aircraft, a Ukrainian operated cargo plane landed at LF Wade International Airport this afternoon [Feb 24] for a fuel stop. Flight CVK7132 was en-route from Opa-locka, Florida on its way to Santa Maria, Azores.

The Antonov An-12 is a four-engine turboprop transport aircraft designed in the Soviet Union. CAVOK Air is an airline based in Ukraine which operates cargo charters and services.

The airline’s website says, “An-12 is originally designed as a military transporter so can be used at remote cargo aprons within barbed wired military facilities and operate from concrete and unpaved runways, including grass landing strips.

“An-12 easily switched roles to provide reliable commercial air transport into some of the most difficult regions in the world. An-12 was very similar in appearance to the Hercules but a little less capable and has unpressurized cargo hold.”

  2. Sara Sargasso says:

Do they not have aircraft fuel in Florida??? Strange.

    • Old Fart says:

I’m sure they have aviation fuel in Florida, it’s 3,258 miles fromOpa-lock a to the Azores as the crow flies, max range of the AN-12 loaded with fuel only is 3,540 miles, pretty tight, a fully loaded AN-12 has a range of 2,235 miles. Either way they have to refuel and we’re the only gas station en-route.
