Court: Mother Admits Mistreatment Of Child

March 29, 2016

In today’s [March 29] Plea Court session, a woman pleaded guilty to abusing and mistreating her 8-year-old daughter in November of last year, with the Court hearing she repeatedly slapped the child and told her she would “f***ing kill” her.

The summary of evidence stated that on 2nd November, the 8-year-old had been sent to school before 7:00am. The child had returned telling her mother that the school gates were locked.

The mother, who cannot legally be named, told the child to catch the bus to school, however, the child was scared to do so.

The mother told the child to catch the bus, sent the child back to school again, and the mother left to go to work.

Her mother saw her walking and came out to meet her. The mother slapped the child several times and told her: “Didn’t I tell you to catch the bus? Get your f***ing bus pass and get your a** to catch the f***ing bus. If you come back here I’ll f****ing kill you.”

The summary of evidence then told of a co-worker intervening and getting the child to school.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered a Social Inquiry Report and set sentencing for May.
