Experts On Changes To UK Insurance Law

Doyle-DavidA leading UK attorney is to address a seminar in Bermuda on changes to the UK’s insurance laws – the first significant revisions in the UK for more than a century.

The UK Insurance Act 2015 is due to come into force on August 12, 2016 and will apply to all contracts [and variations thereto] entered into after that date that are expressly or impliedly subject to UK law.

Tomorrow [March 8], the Insurance Team at Conyers Dill & Pearman will host a seminar for Bermuda insurance industry stakeholders where David Kendall, a partner in the London office of Cooley’s will examine these changes and the issues that are likely to arise therefrom.

David J. Doyle, a Director in the Bermuda office of Conyers Dill & Pearman and a senior insurance attorney in the Firm, said: “Mr Kendall will provide details on the framework of the Act and recent developments, including new standard clauses that the London market is developing.

“These changes are significant and it is important that our clients, particularly those involved with UK business, are fully aware of these changes.”

Mr Kendall is a partner in Cooley’s London office and focuses on all aspects of insurance and reinsurance, including coverage, run-off and insolvency. He has been advising the Lloyd’s Market Association on the Insurance Act 2015.
