Power Plant Fault Causes Outages To 15 Circuits

BELCO crews continue to work on restoring power after a fault in their power plant caused two major engines to shut down affecting customers in various parts of the island.

A BELCO spokesperson said, “There was a fault in the power plant that caused two major engines to shut down resulting in a loads shed of 5 megawatts.

“There were 15 circuits affected from Prospect and parishes east. Power was restored to most customers within approximately 20 minutes, with the exception of one circuit in St. Georges and the National Stadium.

“Crews are working on restoring them now.”

    Now, if they were using LNG this would not have happened, right?

      It could still happen. LNG is just a fuel source.

        I was being sarcastic. Belco pulled dividends back to invest in LNG – 5 years ago… what they’re really doing is paying their defined benefits pensions and not reinvesting.
