Supreme Court Trial Halted After Juror Collapses

The trial of a man accused of attempted murder had to be halted this morning when a juror took ill and collapsed.

Trial judge Charles-Etta Simmons dismissed the jury for an early break after receiving a note from the jury. Moments after as the jury was leaving the courtroom, the juror collapsed.

Emergency services were called and an ambulance arrived within minutes.

Justice Simmons decided to end the proceedings for the day.

Jurors cannot be identified in court proceedings.

The incident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. today [April 7] – the third day of the trial.

Hamilton Parish man Alan Robinson, 56, is accused of attempted murder of a Warwick woman, assaulting another man and carrying a bladed weapon.

He has denied the charges.
