Court: Man Admits Assaulting A Police Officer

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [May 16], a 39-year-old man pleaded guilty to  assaulting a police officer and violently resisting arrest, with the Court hearing the incident occurred after the police stopped him for speeding.

Mr Mark Wilson pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer and violently resisting arrest after police stopped him in Paget on 13th May 2016.

Facts read out by the Crown were that police had stopped Mr Wilson after they noted that he was speeding.

Mr Wilson had gotten off the motorcycle, and had then knocked a police officer with his motorcycle.

Shortly after he struggled with a police officer and eventually had to be tasered, before being arrested.

Mr Wilson was fined $500 for assaulting a police officer and $300 for violently resisting arrest.
