Court: 30-Year-Old Denies Importing Cocaine

May 3, 2016

Appearing in the Supreme Court Monthly Arraignments Session, Tyrone Brown — a 30-year-old Jamaican national charged with importing 894.6 grams of cocaine — pleaded not guilty to that charge.

In Mr Brown’s initial appearance in Magistrate’s Court, the street value of the cocaine was said, by the Crown Prosecutor, to be as high as $209,000.

Justice Charles-Etta Simmons confirmed that Brown was not ordinarily resident in Bermuda. She asked him if this was his first visit to Bermuda. Mr Brown replied that he did not live in Bermuda and that it was his first time here.

No trial date was set and Mr Brown will re-appear at the June Arraignments. In the meantime Mr Brown will remain in custody.
