Court: Man Sentenced To Six Years In Prison

May 17, 2016

A 41-year-old man appeared for sentencing in the Supreme Court today [May 17], where he was sentenced to 6 years in prison for possessing cannabis and cocaine with intent to supply, with the Court hearing the drugs had a value of over $100,000.

Justice Charles-Etta Simmons sentenced Daymon Simmons of Beacon Hill Road, Sandys to six years in prison for possessing approximately 385 grams of cocaine with intent to supply.

Mr Simmons also received shorter sentences for offences of possessing cannabis and cannabis resin with intent to supply; for possessing drug equipment; and for allowing the use of his home for illegal purposes. These shorter sentences are to be concurrent with the six year sentence.

The sentences stemmed from a police raid on Mr Simmons residence in 2014.

The Court heard the total value of the drugs was over $100,000, and that the police also found $12,900 cash.
