May 18, 2016

Bermuda’s Jah-Nhai Perinchief continues to rack up the accolades, being named the Field Athlete of the Year in the Midwest Region for the 2016 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season.

The winners were announced this week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association [USTFCCCA], having been determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches.

The USTFCCCA said, “Perinchief, a freshman from Warwick, Bermuda, finished the regular season as NJCAA’s top high jumper at 2.26m [7-5] for the Bermuda national record and is tied for No. 2 on the all-collegiate list for 2016.

“In addition to winning the high jump at the Region XI Championships, he also won the triple jump and was runner-up in the long jump.”

This latest award follows after Perinchief — who competes for Iowa Central and recently shattered the Bermuda Junior High Jump Record was set by Clarence “Nicky” Saunders 35 years ago — was named the NJCAA Division I Men Athlete of the Week.
