Michael Weeks Congratulates Bermuda’s Athletes

“As our local athletes continue to perform exceptionally on the world stage, my colleagues at the Progressive Labour Party and I would like to take an opportunity to congratulate them and wish them continued success,” Shadow Minster of Health & Community Affairs Michael Weeks said.

Mr Weeks said, “We would like to offer congratulations to Tyler Smith who has continued to represent us phenomenally, winning the National Junior College Athletic Association [NJCAA] Division I Championship Flight 3 Singles Tennis Title and the Flight 2 Doubles Tennis Title.

“Patrick Nisbett has recorded some outstanding results in Beijing during the 2016 Longines FEI World Cup China League competition, recording a win in the 1.40 Open Speed class on the opening day of the three part competition, followed by another outstanding win in the 1.50 Grand Prix Qualifier.

“Four of our Bermuda Triathletes, Nicholas Pilgrim, Lyndsey Palmer, Martina Olcheski-Bell and Steven Petty, were crowned Caribbean Triathlon Age Group Champions following the 2016 Mack Cycle Tri-Miami Triathlon/Duathlon and Caribbean Championship in Miami.

“Further, congratulations are in order for Dominique Mayho who won his first Road Race in Belgium, competing the 102.7km Road Race in Moerbeke with a time of 2:21.54; all the schools who took part in the Bermuda School Sports Federations 2016 Super 8s Cricket Tournament at the National Sports Centre; Bailey’s Bay for winning the BELCO Cup Final and Djair Parfitt-Williams for helping West Ham win the Barclays Under 21 Premier League Cup Trophy in England.

“We commend our athletes who continue to do us proud and set an example for those following behind them.”
