May 1, 2016

News that Philip Correia won a silver medal at the 2016 FEI World Jumping Finals, Flora Duffy won a bronze medal at Discovery World Triathlon in South Africa, and Djair Parfitt-Williams scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory for his West Ham U/21 club were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

Additional good news stories included the ‘Feed My Sheep’ effort by Emmanuel Baptist Church providing free lunch boxes to students, the Bright Brigade donating to PHC, Bermuda Container Line donating to Saltus Grammar School, and Bermudians David Jones and Tevahn Tyrell signing with Ilkeston FC in England for the 2016/17 season.

In other good news, Bernews profiled the young men set to compete in this year’s Alpha Beautillion, including Enrico Escolastica, Théo Raphaël Wolffe, Rollin Roy Nathan Jr, Chakote Wainwright-Basden, Jordan Simmons-Trott, and Alfred “Trey” Maybury III.

We also posted various community photo galleries, including coverage of the 34th Bermuda Open Karate Championships and the third Best of the Best Swim Meet.
