“Overwhelming Demand” Extends E-Census

June 22, 2016

Due to the “overwhelming demand” for the e-Census data collection method, the Department of Statistics will be extending the e-Census period until July 13.

A Government spokesperson said, “Residents who have yet to complete the census questionnaire for their households are asked to do so using the password on the e-Census letter mailed to them.

“If your household has not yet received this letter, please email the following information to statsupport1@gov.bm using the subject ‘e-Census Password Request’ to obtain your e-Census password: full name, home address, and assessment number [if known].

“After receiving your password, if you require assistance, please note that the e-Census Helpline is available until July 13, 2016. The Helpline details are as follows:

  • e-Census Helpline: 297-7761 – option 1
  • Weekday Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. excluding public holidays
  • Weekend Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

“If your household does not have a computer with internet access, please call the e-Census helpline to complete your census questionnaire over the phone. Alternatively, please visit the Department of Statistics between 9:30am and 4:00pm on weekdays to receive assistance from a census officer.

“The Department of Statistics wishes to thank the public for their support of this national initiative.”

The Department of Statistics is overwhelmed by the knowledge that the majority of Bermudians prefer to answer personal questions over the internet instead of having strangers in their homes interrupting their stories time or watching the Euro Cup – really?

If there was overwhelming demand wouldn’t everyone have submitted before todays deadline?
