Possible Delay In Processing Of New Pensions

June 14, 2016

The Department of Social Insurance said they “would like to advise the public that as a result of their temporary office move to Global House, there is a possibility that not all new pension applications were able to be processed in time for the June 15, 2016 payment.

“If you are a new applicant who has submitted their application for a benefit to us prior to March 31, 2016 and whose 65th birthday is on or prior to March 31, 2016 and you have not received a payment on June 15, 2016, please contact the Department at 294 9246 so that we can arrange to expedite your payment,” a spokesperson said.

“The Department apologizes for any inconvenience caused at this time.”

    Accountability and responsibility ….hmmmmmmm!

While any processing delays are unfortunate, at least the ‘powers that be’ are telling this to us before the fact instead of after (and then only if somebody notices the delay)…… so yes, they are trying to be open and responsible under the circumstances UmJustSayiing.

      And what are you saying.

  3. RebeLutionary says:

The article said NEW pension applications. Stop the nonsense. It’s extremely rare that this Department does not pay its old age pensions on time every month. Whatever the problem is I’m sure they are working on it.

Civil Servants, you got to love them.

It is not what you take it is what you give to others..
Make a preset token advance to every one follow up with the balance of payment.

How many new applications are we talking about ? 600…Folks know that they are going to move to a temporary location, please be merciful and concerned enough to take a little extra care…most of these new applicants have put n 40 years plus. Is there a computer problem ? They only say, some will be late in getting their pension, that is not a proper answer to our seniors. I do accept problems happen, also be prepared to compensate those who are made to wait.

So a fellow I know has been in ill health for the last 2 years. He went 65 in January. Filed his paperwork on time for his government pension.

He has been to Social Insurance every month since and still has not had a pension cheque. Where is the fairness and compassion that we expect from our government?
