Premier To Participate In Forum In New York

June 1, 2016

The Cabinet Office is advising that Premier Michael Dunkley is in New York from June 1 – 3, to participate in the New York Recovery & Resilience Leadership Forum.

The forum, which is being hosted by Renaissance Re, takes place tomorrow, June 2, at the iconic New York Stock Exchange [NYSE].

The event brings together academics, scientists, conservationists and public and private sector representatives to advance risk mitigation efforts and awareness.

Premier Dunkley will discuss Bermuda’s hurricane history and the Island’s disaster preparedness and recovery efforts. Key to the discussion will be Bermuda’s strong links with the United States and the Island’s important role as global leader in the captive and financial services market.

The Premier will outline Bermuda’s participation in the property and catastrophe market, and its role as a supplier of catastrophe reinsurance to US insurers. While in New York, the Premier will also engage in media outreach with Bloomberg news, the Wall Street Journal and others.

Tomorrow afternoon, he will ring the closing bell at the NYSE. Residents can watch the Premier’s ringing of the closing bell at 5.00 p.m. Bermuda time on CNBC – Logic channel 25, WOW channel 121.

The Premier returns to the Island on Friday.
